Passionate poultry veterinarian and epidemiologist, specialized in both field and experimental research involving poultry. My research primarily focuses on poultry gut health—including the microbiome, antimicrobial resistance, and biosecurity—as well as the introduction and transmission of infectious diseases within and between poultry farms. As associate professor at the Veterinary Epidemiology group of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University, I also teach epidemiology and poultry health to veterinary master’s students and develop and deliver various postgraduate courses. I especially like doing multidisciplinary projects, where I collaborate with PhD students and partner institutes both within the Netherlands and internationally. OBSeRVeD is a perfect example of such a collaboration. Within Workpackage 1, we focus mostly on the data collection from laying hen and broiler farms, and from (semi-field) experimental facilities, in collaboration with Radboud University and Wageningen University and Research and the main poultry sector stakeholders in this project
